When a dog comes for in kennel training, more is taught than just the
basics. Depending upon the dog being trained we work on house manners
(if the dog is indoors) and socialization with other dogs.
We have an acre of land in which there are many segments so the dogs have
playtime and a chance to run. They are kept in kennels when not
supervised in order to ensure proper behavior during play time.

These dogs are out learning manners. Notice that they are not jumping
on Jennifer nor the other dogs. Willy, the black lab, is holding a
rope and they are all having a good time.
It is important to begin the training of proper manners off leash as well as
on, this is the beginning.
And after a few weeks of this play time you can see this behavior develop.

This group sit is working with the dogs under distraction, the other dogs,
and ensuring they remain sitting and not just sit then run off.
Good manners are about rewarding the behavior you want to remain and
ignoring the behavior that you don't like. The yellow lab here is
Jackson and he is 5 months old, Willy (the black lab) is 4 months old.
Loki (the red Australian Cattle Dog) is 11 months old, and Emma (the blue
Australian Cattle Dog is 4 years old.
You can see how they are all looking at Jennifer and are happy to wait for
the next command. The attention here is the work of positive based
training and the clicker method. The dogs are happy to work for us and
want to do the next command.
